In general, chocolate is a high calorie food that does not typically assist people with weight management. However, researchers at the University of Copenhagen recently found that dark chocolate may help you feel fuller. The study found that individuals who ate dark chocolate had fewer cravings afterward than those who ate milk chocolate. The reasoning behind the finding is that dark chocolate’s natural bitterness might help the body to regulate appetite. In addition, dark chocolate’s higher cocoa butter content might keep the stomach feeling fuller for longer periods of time. This would be due to the fact that cocoa butter contains stearic acid, which can slow digestion.
So don’t go devour an entire bar of dark chocolate, but do have a square now and then to help manage hunger and to get a good dose of antioxidants. Opt for higher cocoa content dark chocolate, which is less sweet and has the greater health benefits all around . Some high-quality and delicious dark chocolate to try include Green & Black’s Organic and Endangered Species Chocolate.
The yoga move known as Cat-Cow pose has been shown to assist in clearing the sinuses by increasing circulation and opening blocked airways.
- Begin on your hands and knees, with hands under shoulders and knees under hips.
- On the inhale, expand chest forward, moving shoulders back and sitting bones up.
- On the exhale, do the opposite, rounding the back and trying to touch the tip of your nose to your belly button.
- Do 10 slow repetitions several times per day, as needed.
*The exhale helps clear out old toxins from the lungs and sinuses.
*The inhale helps bring in new, fresh oxygen to energize the body.
My sister recently passed along this yummy, all natural granola bar recipe from the Food Network. She says that any combination of fruit is good, but she especially likes coconut and banana (chips) or cherrys and raisins. Enjoy!

I recently tried Dr. Bronner’s Organic Shikakai Lavender Hand Soap and I love it! Every time I wash my hands, the smell of the lavender is so authentic and refreshing. The featured ingredient, organic shikakai, is derived from the seed pods of the small South Asian tree Acadia Concinna. Shikakai has been used for thousands of years in India as a gentle conditioning cleanser for hair and skin. This hand soap definitely effectively cleans hands without leaving them dry. This fair trade and organic hand cleanser retails at about $8.99 for a 12 oz pump bottle.

For a Natural Produce Wash, combine:
- 3 cups filtered water
- 3 Tbsp white distilled vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 2 Tbsp baking soda
- a few drops of lemon juice
Mix ingredients in a spray bottle. Mist fruits/vegetables and rinse with cold water to get your produce naturally free of dirt and/or pesticides!
**Not recommended for mushrooms because they might absorb the flavor.
I haven’t tried this one yet, but I recently came across this possible natural remedy for hay fever/allergies. It definitely sounds like a great natural immune booster!
- 1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 Tbsp Honey (preferably raw)
- 8 oz water
Take 2 -3 times per day.
**Honey should not be consumed by infants up to one year old.
I have a very talented and creative friend who is a fashion designer by day and cupcake genius by night/weekend! She recently made me the most unique cupcakes I have ever tasted. These little delights had lavender-infused vanilla cake with lavender, honey cream cheese icing (there were actually little pieces of edible lavender)!
If you love the smell of lavender then you’ll probably love this combination. This is just one of the many varieties of cupcakes that my fellow blogger and friend has come up with so far…can’t wait to see what’s next! :)
